Belarus builds its diplomatic presence in Russia

MOSCOW, 25 November (BelTA) – Belarus is expanding its diplomatic presence in Russia, Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov said at a joint meeting of the collegiums of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 25 November, BelTA has learned.

“We are grateful to the Russian side for enabling the expansion of our diplomatic presence in Russia. Between 2023 and 2025, six branches of the Belarusian Embassy were converted into general consulates. This year alone, consulates general have begun operating in Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, and Nizhny Novgorod,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.

He announced that Belarus is planning to open a diplomatic mission in Voronezh by the end of this year. “Each such foreign mission is, figuratively speaking, diplomacy within easy reach, which is needed by both business and ordinary citizens,” the Belarusian foreign minister said.

He also noted that this process is a two-way street. "The Russian Embassy is going to open branches in Vitebsk, Gomel, and Mogilev,” Maxim Ryzhenkov noted.

“All these efforts, both diplomatic and economic ones, ultimately serve the main goal: to improve the well-being of ordinary people,” the minister added.
